Searchco Executive Recruiters, Code of Ethics, Off-limits Policy - Our Pledge

Background
Searchco insists on the highest ethical standards. If other firms weaken their standards, when the market favors the search industry, Searchco will not follow them. Searchco must comply with the laws of every jurisdiction pertinent to each particular situation. Special care will be taken regarding employment and equal opportunities laws. We have set out the Searchco Ethics Philosophy and Standards below.

Philosophy
Ethics codes are important to establish professional behavior. Having a high standard of ethics is one way in which Searchco signals and delivers superior performance to the client, attracts candidates for clients and for Searchco, and encourages the professional development of those in our firm.

The code has elements to protect the confidentiality and interests of the client and of candidates against any apparent, short-term self-interest of an individual professional or Searchco. The real interest of Searchco is to be rigorously ethical.

If there are issues that do not appear to be fully covered in our ethics code, the way to deal with them is to disclose the issue and agree in an equitable manner to a resolution with the client.

Clients
Clients need to be confident that information disclosed to Searchco during the course of an assignment will remain confidential. To ensure that this is the case:

If there is a possible conflict of interest between clients or potential clients, it will be immediately disclosed to both parties.

Searchco professionals will not discuss client matters in a public place nor disclose client information to third parties.

Searchco will maintain the security of client papers and communications.

Clients need to be kept informed as to progress on their assignment.

Prospects and clients will be updated continuously as required on the status of their search and informed immediately if there are any obstacles or issues impairing Searchco's delivery of the search.

Clients need to be clear that we represent their interests:

Searchco will not send unsolicited resumes to clients.

In salary negotiations, we need to represent the client's best interests and be fair to the candidate.

Searchco will not offer the same candidate to two clients at the same time (parallel processing).

Clients need to be clear that their name will not be used disadvantageously within the client's company with other clients or candidates:

Searchco will not disclose to other clients or potential clients or in publicity material that they are or have conducted searches for that client without the permission of the client.

Searchco will not disclose the name of a client to a candidate until the client agrees this is appropriate.

Clients need to be confident in the quality of work delivered and the fit of the candidate with the client organization:

Searchco recognizes the importance of diversity in today's global marketplace. Therefore, we have a strong commitment to diversity that includes working diligently to provide all clients a diverse, qualified slate of candidates on every engagement. Under no circumstance will we tolerate or engage in discriminatory activity.

Candidates
We need to agree with clients from the outset which candidate sources are off-limits for a particular assignment. These should include:

Sister companies or divisions of the client.

Individuals placed by Searchco in their current company (unless the client specifically requests that we can approach that candidate).

Candidates with firms or elements of firms where Searchco has agreed to put them off-limits. Local offices are free to put clients off-limits for a two-year period after the completion of the assignment or its termination by the client.

Candidates should be protected against risk of exposure that may damage them:

No candidate will have his or her particulars divulged to a client without his or her agreement.

Reference checking of references provided by the candidate will not be conducted without the knowledge and agreement of the candidate. This does not preclude normal candidate search.

We believe in Equal Opportunity for all, regardless of gender, race, ethnic origin, religion, handicap or sexual orientation. The staffing policies and practices of Searchco for our organization, our clients and candidates are fully non-discriminatory.
